New Beginnings

New season, new start - is now the right time to begin therapy?

September has a particular feel to it. Even years after having left school, something about the turn of the season feels like a fresh start to me. Holidays end, routines return, and many of us end the summer with a clearer sense of what changes we’d like to consider in our future. For many of us, that will include finally doing something about how we've been feeling.

Post-summer reflection

Holidays can be fab, but they can also give headspace to things we’ve parked for a while. Time away from the usual routine gives time to notice what isn't working: relationships that feel strained, stress that didn't go away with the sunshine, or a low mood that has been  building for months.  People often return from summer ready to take action on things they've been putting off.

Exam results, transitions and big life changes

August and September bring significant life transitions for many people. Whether you've just received exam results - yours or your child's - started university, changed jobs, or are heading back to a workplace that has felt a bit overwhelming; these moments of change can stir up anxiety, self-doubt and uncertainty.

Therapy can be a really useful place to process these transitions before they start to dominate.

So, is now the right time?

There is no perfect moment to start therapy. But if you've been thinking about it, September is as good a time as any. A new (cooler!) season, a returning routine, and a commitment to yourself.

I offer a free, no-obligation 15 minute chat to anyone considering counselling in Norwood Junction, SE25 or online throughout the UK. No pressure or commitment, just a conversation to see if we're a good fit.
